Aptech, a pioneer in vocational training and global learning solutions, has announced a significant collaboration with Scope Global Skills University (SGSU) to launch an affordable Indian university degree pathway for students in Nigeria. The programme, a 36-month Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Information Technology (AI & ML), is structured to directly address Nigeria’s rapidly growing demand for high-level, job-ready technology professionals.
Nigeria possesses one of the world’s largest and most dynamic youth populations. Its technology ecosystem, particularly in cities like Lagos, is a hub of continental innovation and attracts significant global investment. Despite this growth, a persistent skills gap exists between the output of traditional academic institutions and the specific, high-demand competencies required by the global technology industry.
This Aptech-SGSU collaboration is purpose-built to bridge that gap. It provides a structured, affordable pathway for Nigerian students to gain hands-on, industry-relevant skills and a globally recognised university degree.
A Unique Blended and Residential Model
The 36-month B.Voc. degree programme is delivered through a unique blended and residential pathway model, broken into two distinct phases:
• Phase 1 (18 Months in Nigeria): Students complete the first 18 months of the curriculum at Aptech centers in Nigeria. This phase is focused on building foundational and core skills. The curriculum includes programming with C, AI-driven web development with React, database management with SQL Server, Java applications, and Python. This practical training is integrated with academic modules delivered directly by SGSU.
• Phase 2 (18 Months in India): Following the successful completion of Phase 1, students transition to India for 18 months of full-time residential study at the Scope Global Skills University campus in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. This advanced phase covers specialised topics including data science with MongoDB, deep learning, AI-powered computer vision, cross-platform app development, and a final capstone project.
“Aptech has been committed to developing vocationalskills in Nigeria for over two decades,” said Mr Kallol Mukherjee, Executive Vice President – InternationalBusiness at Aptech Limited. He adds, “We see an opportunity to align Nigeria’s vast talent pool with the global digital economy. Our partnership with SGSU is a significant step; providing Nigerian students with the best of both worlds: Aptech’s industry-led skills training at home, and an affordable, internationally recognized university degree from India, a global IT powerhouse. This model directly addresses the market’s need for graduates who are not just educated, but employable from day one.”
“We are delighted to extend this collaboration to students in Nigeria,” said Dr Vijay Singh, Vice Chancellor at Scope Global Skills University. “Our educational philosophy is built on blending strong academic theory with practical, hands-on application. By welcoming international students to our campus in India for their final 18 months, we offer them full immersion in an advanced learning environment.”
The Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) degree, offered by Aptech and SGSU, is an UGC-approved qualification, recognised globally and considered on par with other bachelor’s degrees for competitive exams and further academic progression, including Master’s programmes.

Addressing Nigeria’s Economic Opportunity
The program is specifically designed for Nigerian secondary school graduates (A-level or 10+2 equivalent) who seek a direct path to a high-growth career in technology. Eligibility requires an A-level/10+2/WASSCEcertificate and proven proficiency in English.
The Aptech-SGSU pathway offers an accessible route to this ecosystem at a cost significantly lower than comparable programmes in the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia. This affordability model places a high-quality international degree within reach of a much broader segment of the Nigerian population.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) in IT (AI & ML) programme will be equipped to pursue careers as AI/ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Full-Stack Developers, and AI-driven App Developers.Admissions for the first intake are now open.
